HOW CAN HERITAGE SPEAK THROUGH MODERN CRAFTMANSHIP?
History in Every Stitch
In Rugby, the birthplace of the game, there are craftspeople who still make jerseys the way they used to be made — researched, cut, and stitched by hand. The Rugby Company honours iconic players and unforgettable moments from the game’s past, recreating vintage garments with each era as the design foundation. History in every stitch. For two years, the brand had been silent. On its return, the question wasn’t how to be loud, but how to give history a new voice. These jerseys are more than thread: they carry lineage — lived experience, competition, character arcs — created with purpose. Channelled through every design are the players’ hearts and stories. Daniel ‘Danie’ Craven (known as Mr Rugby), a boy with an impossible love for a ball, barefoot soccer on a farm, growing into a figure whose presence still lingers in his nation’s veins. E J ‘John’ Jackett — the Cornish dynamo, touring with British legends, England’s rose on his chest. We didn’t have to invent; the depth was already there. Through film, photography, and player narratives, social channels became galleries. Of memory. Of movement. Lifestyle-driven content that framed heritage not as nostalgia, but as something evocative and desirable. It spread beyond the brand's circle, reaching those who don't separate provenance from style. Sales followed — £25K over six months — but the deeper shift was cultural. When craftsmanship is given the respect it deserves, a product becomes a point of view.
